Who We Are
WinePress Publishing draws its name from the rich publishing heritage led by Johannes Gutenberg over five hundred years ago. Gutenberg, a German book publisher, introduced radical improvements to the publishing system of his day. By creating the process for mass produced movable type, the use of oil-based ink, and a revolutionary printing press similar to an agricultural device, the winepress, he sped up book printing time and paved the way to mass production of books and Bibles. The first book printed on the Gutenberg winepress printing machine was the Mazarin Bible or Gutenberg Bible in the 1450’s.
Gutenberg desired quality and was not satisfied with the status quo. Instead, he looked for efficiency and innovation. His pioneering spirit introduced modern book printing and led to the printing revolution.
WinePress Publishing was named after Gutenberg's amazing printing machine developed from the concept of a winepress. In this same spirit of innovation and excellence, WinePress has been the industry leader in Christian custom publishing since 1991.
