Continue Reading While still grieving the recent loss of his wife, John Jurgen begins to receive collection notices and intimidating phone calls regarding a large, outstanding gambling debt which was allegedly incurred by his wife and for which he is now responsible. At first finding it difficult to talk to his late wife’s family, he finally enlists his sister-in-law’s help and they set out to clear things up. They discover that John’s wife had made some questionable friends: two girls who seem smart enough and with motive enough to be behind an extortion scheme, but John and his sister-in-law can’t prove it. The increased stress takes a toll on John who is hospitalized and warned to rest and get professional help to deal with this situation. After inquiring with the police, they are determined to dig deeper, but when they do, the findings are disturbing. This story is a reminder to baby-boomers to beware; there are people out there with no scruples.
